Long day in NY... Met the dude from Lemar & Dauley

Damn... Its too fucking hot in NY right now. And when it rains, its all over. Spent most of my time today on Lafayette. Hit up WeSC store... and those motherfuckas still don't have any goddamn stickers! Got some WeSC matches though... personally made by the NY crew for me!


Hit up the Supreme store -- and shit was the same as always -- Holier than thou dudes decked in Bape that don't say shit... there is this mad polo that I saw Tyondai Braxton of Battles rockn at Bonnaroo... Might have to pick that up.

The whole time I was trying to get to Odin to buy an umbrella since I knew it was going to rain... but I got distracted by Kareem from Lemar & Dauley!!! I walked by the dude and stared at him and was like "where do I know this dude?"... then it hit me and I flagged him down and told him I was really impressed by his shit. He said he liked my hat... Hundreds + Lemar & Dauley in the near future????


Went to Recon and they gave me a free Fader Mag... super nice kids. Hit up Oak looking for Schmoove sneakers, but their selection was kindof weak... as far as sneakers. Saw a nice duffel that I liked... until I saw the $600 price tag. And then it started to rain and shit got ugly.

Tomorrow I hit up a rooftop party with Dizzie Lizzie. WORD.

How come I've never seen this Dallas (above)? WTF? As I wrap up my week in Dallas, I give Dallas a 6/10 for my likings. I mean... there was no music that I wanted to see. Shopping was okay... Picked up a Marc Jacobs jacket and saw a few things I liked at Centre.


They have Whole Foods everywhere here, and since Dallas is the premium example of neo-suburban sprawl, it was easy to grub. HOWEVER!!! I went to a Kosher Tom Thumb the other day and was so disappointed. You Texas Yids need to step up your game! They had a Kosher butcher... but he was out! And that shit was like a Tom Thumb with a few kosher hot dogs... thats it. WHAT THE FUCK!?! I'm trying to get my Kosher on and you kids are fucking with my game!!!


Thank fucking God that Heather came to save my ass from instant boredom. We ate at a dope Spanish place called Chic from Barcelona. The owner was nice as hell, and talked with Lau and I for a little bit.


Also ate at a dope Greek Restaurant. Wayyyyy tooo many trees for me this week. Anyway, I'm getting ready for NY tomorrow, orientation on Monday. I'm most excited about going to Oak and Odin... the latter being one of my revived favorites, as well as hitting up TurntableLab. Maybe some parties...

Dallas: Where to Shop

Shopping in Dallas is mad confusing. There are the obvious spots: Northpark Mall. Although its no secret, the Barney's makes it worth it. However, there is a place that is more exclusive... CENTRE!

Yo Centre is the best place to shop in Dallas if your into high-end swagger. They carry Oak (fuck yes), WeSC, Staple, Schwipe, Wood Wood, Supra, Alife, Pegleg, Nike, Free Gold Watch, Stussy, Penfield, and MHI. I was in there the other day with Lau and the owner was talking about how theyre opening a new store in the same area (Mockingbird Station) that will be more high-end, like Oak/ y-3 kindof shit. They're always nice as hell when I go in there.

DIPLO, Girl Talk

When is this movie going to drop? I hear that the Baile Funk is the dopest and most dangerous form of party ever. Michna aka Egg Foo Young over at TTL went to Brasil and has stories of parties with people dancing with machine guns and shit. Either way, Baile Funk is now an established genre of music, with Bonde Do Role as the most notable act.

On another subject, Diplo is my favorite DJ that ever did mash-up. His diverse cultural influences, everything from living in Mississippi and soaking up Dirty South to Rio and Baile Funk, bleed through in his music and this I like. He takes songs and samples and remixes them into something original. He can make crunk music and he can also make cinematic hip-hop, as on his "Florida" album.

Girl Talk, on the other hand, was never really my thing. I've heard "Night Ripper", but I never honestly felt it that much. Maybe it was just because too many kids that didn't know shit about music loved that album, mostly teenage girls. Trees would always rock that "Grizzlybear vs. Clipse" in his car, and I love that shit, mostly because I love both those artists. A similar case is that of Flosstradamus -- they mashup two artists that I love -- like Sigur Ros and Twista. Girl Talk, on the other hand, is almost too novelty for me.

Anyway, I have "Feed the Animals" and I like it... I'm not really sure where I stand now, but I can definitely agree that the shit is like a top 40 mashup... and thats not a bad thing. I have to listen to it more before I decide how I feel about it. I love Girl Talk's live show and his posing for Play Girl and all that shit... I don't know.

All I'm saying is that if you like Girl Talk, check out Diplo and Flosstradamus.

Yo I love Kid Sister. Seriously. That girl (I mean woman, she is like 30 yrs old or something... but so is MIA!?!) is cool, sexy, funny, cute, smart, witty... but I'm still waiting on "Koko B Ware", her album thats supposed to drop... sometime around now??? In the meantime, these remixes are sick as fuck. The Simian Mobile Disco remix is VERY WORTHY! Kills it. Is Kid Sis going to pull a Santogold? Will she be playing through the speakers at Best Buy? Bud Light commercials? Playing, only playing... I still love Santi. And I love the Bud Light remix actually. And I think her song, "I'm a lady" should be the next tranny anthem.
